Prepare to gear up as the Open Beta for Battlefield 6 is just around the corner, as EA readies for an October 10 release. With over 100 million players worldwide and over 5 billion hours of logged playtime, the Battlefield franchise has established itself as one of the most popular online combat games ever made, and EA’s Battlefield Studios is aiming for Battlefield 6 to be one of its biggest entries yet.
Last week, the first single-player trailer was released, giving fans a taste of what to expect from that campaign but it was also announced that another trailer focused on multiplayer gameplay would be revealed this week. The new trailer includes footage of squad play and infantry, vehicle combat, while showcasing the game’s modern visual aspects. Strategic resources include not just how your team deploys and what equipment is used, but also planning with the ability to destroy buildings, or use vehicles as weapons.
“Demolish your surroundings for a strategic advantage with Tactical Destruction. Turn your vehicle into a wrecking ball, bury a squad under a ceiling, or create new paths to victory.
Battlefield’s new Kinesthetic Combat System makes you more connected to your soldier and environment than ever before.”

Priced at $70
EA CEO Andrew Wilson stated a day ago that the publisher has no plans to hop onto the 80$ price train, yet, so for now, Battlefield 6 is expected to launch at $70. However, the exec did say that EA continues to explore options and other pricing strategies for its games, so it should be expected that somewhere down the road this might change. The following was transcribed from a recent earnings call via IGN.
“That’s in the construct of, we already offer a fairly broad pricing scheme across our various products. When you think about everything from free-to-play through to our premium products and deluxe editions, our orientation is always to capture the full spectrum of pricing so that we can serve players in the best way possible and offer them the greatest value. We’ll continue to look at opportunities to deliver great value to our players thorugh various pricing schemes over the course of time, but no dramatic changes planned yet.”

LOCK AND LOAD FOR THE BATTLEFIELD 6 OPEN BETA
The Open BETA schedule and PC requirements have officially been announced as well. Weekend warriors will have the opportunity to get an early taste of the game beginning on August 7, August 9 for the first official weekend, and August 14-17 for the final event. PC requirements indicate that a mid-grade system is needed, but most notably, storage with a 750 GB install size is required at launch.

No Steam Deck or Switch 2 Support
EA Executive Vice President Vince Zampella spoke with PCGamesN and confirmed that, as of now, the game will not run on the Steam Deck. He also said that presently, there is no support for the Nintendo Switch 2 either, but other gaming handhelds may be able to run the game. It sounds like Windows-based gaming handheld devices will be supported, but even then, their individual hardware specs will be a deciding factor on how well the game can run on them, not to mention the gigantic install size.
