Bungie has announced that new Star Wars-inspired content is on the way for Destiny 2 following the launch of the Ash & Iron update. Destiny 2: Renegades continues the Year of Prophecy with the introduction of new characters, weapons, and locations, which players will recognize from the Star Wars universe. Bungie has said that the two universes have been merged to create a unique story.
“As the next chapter in Destiny 2’s Fate Saga, Guardians will experience becoming part of a crew of underdogs rising to challenge a powerful Cabal faction, the Barant Imperium, whom Drifter suspects have a connection to the Nine. Defying the Vanguard, Guardians will pursue Drifter and join a cast of new and returning characters as they navigate a world of shadow to build influence and power.”

After journeying to the Lawless Frontier, players can take on high-risk, high-reward contracts, which include the usual fare such as smuggling, bounty hunting, and sabotage, when the need arises. These jobs can be done via solo-play or with a fireteam. The Tharsis Outpost (aka cantina) is where new characters, weapons (a new blaster which uses reserves for power and has a new mechanic for heat management), upgrades, a new social hub, and more can be found. Missions span across multiple planets and maps, allowing folks to further explore these new SW locations.

One feature, Invasion, allows players to opt in for additional challenges and rewards by enabling other Guardians to invade the battlefield. This introduces a layer of strategic unpredictability, where greater risk yields greater rewards.”

Destiny 2: Renegades will arrive on December 2 and be available as part of either the Standard, Year of Prophecy, or Year of Prophecy Ultimate editions.
