It’s no secret that Ubisoft has been working on a remake of the fourth entry in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, but now a description for it has leaked. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is the official title for the modernized remake, an obvious tie-in to the Animus device used throughout the franchise, and according to information scraped from an overseas game rating site, it will feature new characters and stories. Details for the game were obtained via the Indonesian Game Ratings System (IGRSDB), which has given it an 18+ rating and states it will launch for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. For the moment, there’s no indication of it launching on the Nintendo Switch 2, but that doesn’t mean a version for it won’t arrive at a later date. Speaking of dates, there’s no official release date yet beyond it launching this year, but one could be announced soon.
“This title breathes new life into a fan favourite while remaining carefully faithful to the spirit of the original. It follows the story of charismatic pirate and Assassin Edward Kenway as he adventures through 18th Century Caribbean with parkours in cities, and battles at seas, in search of fortune and glory. Modernized in 2026, the new game includes a cast of new characters and stories.”

It will be interesting to see what modernized features Ubisoft has chosen to add to the game. From HDR to ultrawide display resolutions, high refresh rate support, ray tracing, DLSS/XeSS/FSR, and more, many new technologies could be supported in the remake. While unlikely, there could also be updates to the game’s combat mechanics and controls. Pricing will be key to the successful launch of the game in this time of tighter player budgets, and if the cost is too high, many will wait until discounts make it a more appealing purchase. Meanwhile, this could be the perfect time for new and veteran fans to return to the iconic game, which helped define a franchise.

I bought shadows... and honestly tje gameplay loop was nice but I kept waiting on the ISU plot... ..I won't be getting another assassin's game until I know it actually advances the meta plot.
This is timely as I'm playing Odyssey. BF is most AC players favorite entry in the series. An updated version with all the eye candy should appeal to most of them. If they can retain what made the OG so fun to play.
This is the only one I ever played and never got around to finishing, so I'm looking forward to the update. I was mainly into it as a sort of spiritual successor to Sid Meier's Pirates, which I dropped endless hours into between the 8-bit and 16-bit era.
Yeah from what I understand, Black Flag is the most highly regarded of all the AC games, and the reason people like it is not because it is an AC game, but because it is a pirate game (and an apparently good one at that).
The pirate loop is fun but rather simple... from a piracy standpoint. I thought the ISU story line was interesting. Just feels like lazy work to re hash it AGAIN. I mean they made a pirate game... just circling around to the same well over and over is kind of lame.
