IO Interactive is celebrating the commercial success of its first James Bond game, 007 First Light, with a list of year-one content on the way. 007 First Light launched three months ago and sold over 1.25 million copies within its first twenty-four hours, and now, just three months later, total sales have exceeded four million copies sold. Fans continue to praise on social media that the game should be considered one of the best James Bond games ever, and the Epic Games Store has joined in giving props to the developer/publisher.

“The achievement of 4 million units sold in the first three months reflects overwhelming global enthusiasm for 007 First Light.

“The game’s exceptional critical and commercial performance across all platforms, with the launch on Nintendo Switch 2 to come later in 2026, demonstrates the franchise’s enduring appeal and the positive reception towards the studio’s ambitious vision to deliver a premium, original Bond experience worldwide.”

IO Interactive has said in its Press Release (via Games Press) that a version for the Nintendo Switch 2 is in development and will launch this year, but it is also already working on adding more content to the game. The Year One Content Roadmap includes more Tactical Simulation (TacSim) updates, which will take place at various locations visited during the main campaign, including Kensington’s Workshop, Vietnam’s luxury resort, Slovakia’s mountain slopes, and Mauritania’s black market, but that’s not all. In addition to gaining more information about Webb Industries and some critical technology that could play a vital role, another ongoing story will be further expanded upon: “Following events in Mauritania, an unexpected alliance between MI6 and Pirate King Bawma will require Bond’s personal involvement in a sensitive mission.”

Players can also expect new gadgets to make their debut, along with more weapons, cosmetics, leaderboard challenges, and other additions such as new gameplay scenarios. IO Interactive has also added that it is looking into the possibility of adding a New Game+ mode.

It shouldn’t be too big of a surprise that 007 First Light continues to reach new sales records, as fans and reviewers alike quickly praised it after release, as can be seen here. Kudos to IO Interactive for its support of the gaming community and for showing there’s much more on the way.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
