The NVIDIA Shield TV Pro has just received a major price hike and now costs $299 for those wanting to own the premium streaming device. The first Shield TV launched in 2015 and has received updates in 2017 and 2019, with the launch of the Shield TV Pro for $199. The base non-Pro model is no longer being made but paved the way for its sibling that features more memory and twice the storage. However, it’s those imrpovements which likely have led to the price increase, thanks to the current NAND and DDR shortage that has since caused prices for PC, consoles, and other electronic components to spike since 2026 began.

Thanks to its processor, which was admittedly ahead of its time and, despite its age, the NVIDIA Shield TV Pro still provides an optimum streaming experience up to 4K/60FPS that supports Dolby Vision (via recent updates) or HDR10 and can work as a great Plex server. It also features 3 GB of memory and 16 GB of storage, along with multiple USB ports for added storage options. Per Guru3D, it’s been reported that the non-Pro version has been discontinued by NVIDIA, but it is not known how much unsold stock is left, so those looking for a cheaper alternative may want to hunt one down before they’re gone, although its lower memory and storage may actually be reaching a point where some apps cannot be installed. The base model has 2GB of memory and 8GB of storage.
Earlier this year, NVIDIA’s engineers shared how they are still passionate about supporting the aging Shield TV Pro and some details regarding how the Shield TV line came into being. Essentially, the rise of mobile devices such as phones and tablets served as inspiration, but the engineers were determined to create a streaming device that wouldn’t need replacing after a couple of years, as often is the case with many other mobile devices.
