Forget zombies, vampires, and werewolves; the necromorphs from Dead Space have arrived in Battlefield 6 REDSEC and will bring carnage in a crossover lasting until November 10th. Battlefield 6 recently completed a crossover with Top Gun and is now getting its Halloween spirit on with the grisly denizens of Dead Space. Battlefield Studios has worked with Motive, the team behind the acclaimed 2023 remake, to unleash the “unspeakable horrors that once haunted Isaac Clarke on the USG Ishimura” into the world of Battlefield.

Per Press Release:

“The event is a non-canon celebration of everything Dead Space, running from October 20th through November 10th, with development led by Motive, responsible for the critically acclaimed 2023 remake. Players will experience a PvE take on Rush, featuring environments, weapons, cosmetics and even gameplay mechanics adapted from Dead Space.”

The marker Incursion, aka Convergence Event, is a 16-player PvE mode where players fight off hordes of marked (infected) soldiers. These teams must take down the iconic markers before convergence is achieved to survive the madness. While non-canon, this collaboration between Motive and Battlefield Studios is sure to be a refreshing return to the world of Dead Space following EA’s decision to cease production on more remakes or new franchise entries despite the high praise given for the 2023 remake. At one point, it was rumored that a second remake would combine elements from Dead Space 2 and 3, but those plans were reportedly scrapped not long after the first remake launched. Perhaps this event might spark new interest from EA’s new owners in reviving the franchise once again. Meanwhile, it’s possible the remake. Given that the remake is now three years old it’s also a possibility that it’ll soon be on sale at either Steam or Epic so folks interested in the upgrade which added features and support for modern tech should keep an eye out.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
