Oh, is 3,200 or 6,400 DPI not fast enough for you? Logitech has released a new G HUB update (2020.8.5950) that enables 25,600 DPI speeds for select high-performance gaming mice, such as the G502 LIGHTSPEED (a wireless version of the beloved classic). All of these mice utilize the company’s HERO sensor, which were previously limited to 16,000 DPI.
We’re not sure if the increased DPI is overkill or not, but it’s certainly given Logitech’s marketing department a lot to talk about. “At 25,600 DPI, the HERO 25K sensor is the world’s first sub-micron level mouse sensor,” the company wrote in a recent blog post. “While sub-micron is mostly impractical for most players to use, it reflects the performance potential of the HERO architecture and sensor performance.”
“HERO 25K is the first sensor that can accurately track movement at the sub-micron level — 1 micron = 1 millionth of a meter, or 0.000001m,” it added. “Without compromising on accuracy, this new sensor does this without the use of smoothing and without spurious motion, parasitic counts, making this one of the most accurate sensors on the market.”
Logitech G HUB users can download the new update by hitting the gear icon at the upper-right corner of the app. Users can also grab the executable at this link and install it manually.
Your HERO just got an upgrade. An upcoming free G Hub update will evolve the HERO 16K sensor to a HERO 25K sensor becoming the first wireless sensor to track movement at a sub-micron level.
