MeanAstronauts has announced its latest project, Robin Hood: Builders of Sherwood, an RPG and city builder game. Players will be able to embark as the titular hero but also switch over to city building to develop the fledgling community.

The goal for city building is to create the largest community of outlaws in the area and form a coup against the sheriff of Nottingham. Players can recruit from local farms, villages, and even the guards of Nottingham castle. The game’s first task will be to create your camp in Sherwood forest. From there, protect and nurture your populace as you progress to the final goal.

RPG elements are in a third-person perspective. Robin Hood will interact with famous characters, explore an open-world environment, ride a horse, and (of course) rob from the rich. Battles will involve sword and bow, along with leading your followers to conquests. A release date has not been announced yet.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
