General Motors has revealed that it has begun developing an electrified version of Chevrolet’s iconic sports car, the Corvette. Mark Reuss, President of General Motors, announced the news on his LinkedIn page today, confirming that both an electrified (i.e., hybrid) and fully electric model is being planned. The former is expected to arrive as early as next year.

Some time ago we moved the Corvette team into the EV space in Warren, Michigan, and when we revealed the new mid-engine Corvette, I said there would be “more to come.” This morning I sat down with Phil LeBeau of CNBC and finally answered the question I’ve been asked countless times.
Yes, in addition to the amazing new Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and other gas-powered variants coming, we will offer an electrified and a fully electric, Ultium-based Corvette in the future. In fact, we will offer an electrified Corvette as early as next year. Details and names to come at a later date.
In addition, we also announced today Ultium Platform’s energy recovery system, a patented onboard system that takes the heat generated by EV batteries and uses it to warm the cabin, create more efficient charging conditions, and even increase vehicle acceleration. And it can boost the vehicle’s range by about 10%. It’s a perfect example of how developing a ground-up EV platform like Ultium enables unique features not easily done with a retrofit.
Chevrolet announced its latest Corvette, the 2023 Corvette Z06, in October 2021. The new $90,000–$97,500 supercar features a 5.5-liter V8 engine that can rev to 8,600 RPM and provide 670 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Speedsters will also find an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and updated aesthetics in the form of new fascias and more.

Ugh, thank you GM for your plans to ruin one of my favorite vehicle series. I was really afraid for Corvette and Camaro after GM announced their desire to get rid of all ICEs by 2035 or some sh1t like that.

EDIT: Watched the embedded video. I guess going electric means they got motors on the front wheels, so they got some kind of AWD setup going on. That could be interesting.
Say what you will about the Mach-E, but we can't keep them in the dealership long. We have people lined up putting deposits on them for incoming units. They still make the Mustang GT with the 5.0 V8 which is my preferred one as well. Nonetheless, I wonder if GM will feel the same wrath about this Corvette from long time fans.
Well, in all fairness, how many models of anything are sitting in stock well right now?
Our dealership has been low on inventory like everyone else, but the Mach-E and the Maverick along with the full size Bronco are the big sellers. Those three have had their order banks closed to later this year along with a few others so Ford can catch up. A lots of orders on everything else right now.
I'm not opposed to a hybrid Vette. A system like the 918, SF90, LaFerrari, P1, etc could be fun.
