PC gamers may have to deal with yet another launcher soon.
Dataminers who dug into Insomniac Games and Nixxes’ new PC port of Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered have discovered some interesting references that allude to Sony’s future plans for PC. Some of the files seem to suggest that PlayStation will be getting its own PC launcher, joining the likes of companies such as Rockstar Games and Activision Blizzard.
VGC says that it has “verified the files and seen the references” to the PlayStation PC launcher, but while the publication seemingly declined to share any further specifics, it did bring up some other findings that indicate PC gamers who want to enjoy PlayStation ports may additionally need a PSN account in the future.
While neither Marvel’s Spider-Man nor any other PlayStation Studios PC game currently allows connectivity with PSN accounts, Spider-Man’s files contain multiple references to “PSNAccountLinked” and “PSNLinkingEntitlements”.
Thus far, all of Sony’s PC games have been released on Steam and the Epic Game Store. While PlayStation has a PlayStation PC brand, it is generally used as a collective term for all PC rereleases, rather than a launcher.
In any case, PlayStation is clearly doubling down on the PC space. The company recently sought to hire a new director of product management for its “PC Game Experiences” division, one who would “take the lead on the overall PC gaming experiences for PlayStation including the leadership and responsibility to implement and deliver to our players worldwide,” as pointed out by some on Twitter.
Other files datamined from Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered suggest that Insomniac had been planning a multiplayer mode for the game, which apparently ended up being scrapped.

I hope not. More companies have been retiring launchers than releasing them lately.
Don't really need another one.
They\'ll probably combine their existing Remote Play PC program with a PSN launcher/storefront client. Most people don\'t know that they can already stream PS4/PS5 games to their PC over a local network using that software. Let\'s hope they bring more features to PSN, since it\'s kind of getting stomped by Game Pass.
No Sony, bad Sony!!!
Nope.
Oh, come on... It even comes bundled with a free rootkit. How can you say no to that?
Aaaahhhhh, those old SecuROM days...
I definitely hope not but if it expedites them getting games over to PC I'd cope with it as long as the ports continue with the quality I've seen with GOW, Horizon, and Spider-Man. It's been a nice ride so far but anything that deters from that will be a hard pass.
