NVIDIA ultimately decided to re-brand its “unlaunched” GeForce RTX 4080 (12 GB) graphics card to the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, according to specifications for custom PNY GeForce RTX 4070 Ti models that have been leaked online.

According to the leak, the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti will feature 7,680 CUDA cores, 12 GB of GDDR6X memory, and GPU clock speeds in the realm of 2,310/2,610 MHz (base/boost), specifications that imply it is extremely similar to the GeForce RTX 4080 (12 GB) model that NVIDIA canceled in October.

“According to the information, PNY is set to launch RTX 4070 Ti XLR8 VERTO and VERTO GPUs,” VideoCardz, which shared the specs, noted in its coverage. “These are not the same cards, as the former is a high-end GPU featuring more capable cooler similar to the RTX 4080 16GB card. Both triple-fan designs, but the latter lacks RGB lighting, and it is slightly thinner (3 slot vs. 3.3-slot).”

NVIDIA announced that it would be unlaunching the GeForce RTX 4080 (12 GB) graphics card on October 14, 2022.

“The RTX 4080 12GB is a fantastic graphics card, but it’s not named right,” the company explained. “Having two GPUs with the 4080 designation is confusing.”

“So, we’re pressing the ‘unlaunch’ button on the 4080 12GB.”

The GeForce RTX 4080 starts at $1,199, and many custom models are available for purchase, according to retail listings seen at the time of this posting.

Its flagship counterpart, the GeForce RTX 4090, appears to be out of stock at most, if not all, locations.
