The cat is pretty much out of the bag after an industry insider’s statement collaborates with a previous one from Venom’s voice actor Tony Todd. The latest post comes from Jason Schreier (Bloomberg) who very nonchalantly replied in a thread regarding the most recent Suicide Squad delay announcement that Insomniac Games’ upcoming sequel could be the reason for the latest pushback for Rocksteady Studio’s project.
Spider-Man 2 in September could be a factor, too
— Jason Schreier (@jasonschreier) April 13, 2023
Previously Tony Todd had let it slip that the game could be coming in September as well. In a now-deleted post, he’d said (via KitGuru), “Looks like September! Massive publicity coming in August. Commercials start dropping in August so I’m told. Hold on to your … and hold your breath! Gonna be necessary.”
A September release for Spider-Man 2 is even more plausible after considering that the original blockbuster had also been released in September 2018. Factor in that it is already known, and even updated on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 page, that the game is expected in Fall 2023 and this is all but official now. Insomniac Games must also really like the month of September since it was in that same month in 2021 they officially announced the sequel. So between that, the industry insider’s statement, and that of Mr. Todd, plus a known release window, players should expect to see the symbiote wreaking havoc this coming September on the PS5.
Reveal Trailer
Meanwhile here is the reveal trailer again for those who may’ve missed it the first time around.
“Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the next game in PlayStation’s critically acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise. Developed by Insomniac Games in collaboration with Marvel Games and PlayStation for the PS5 console.”
Spider-Man 2 would technically be the third game in the franchise following Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which expanded the franchise with the character introduced in the first game, but this would be the first direct sequel.
