Gaming Performance Page 1

On this page, and the next we are going to look at how overclocking has improved game performance on both video cards.  We will simply compare by apples-to-apples the default clock speed to our highest overclock as shown on the previous pages.

The Division 2

In The Division 2 we are running at 1440p in DX12 with the highest in-game settings.  The results above are obtained from the in-game benchmark.  Overclocking the AMD Radeon RX 5700 has improved performance by 6%.  Overclocking the AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT has improved performance by 10%.  It is clear the AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT benefits more from the overclock.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

In Shadow of the Tomb Raider, we are running at 1440p in DX12 with the highest in-game settings.  The results are obtained from the in-game benchmark.  AMD Radeon RX 5700 receives a 5% performance increase from overclocking.  The Radeon RX 5700 XT receives a 7% overclocking performance improvement.

Metro: Exodus

In Metro Exodus, we are running at 1440p in DX12 with the “Extreme” in-game settings.  The results above are obtained from the in-game benchmark.  The AMD Radeon RX 5700 improves only by 4% in this game with overclocking.  Overall the performance is not playable, we’d need to lower settings at 1440p.  The Radeon RX 5700 XT gains more performance with overclocking, 10% faster in this game thanks to overclocking.  However, the “Extreme” game settings still aren’t playable on this video card at 1440p even with overclocking, we have to lower settings.
