During The Game Awards 2019, Gearbox had the honor of showing off Counterplay Games’s looter-slasher Godfall, which will go down in history as the PlayStation 5’s first-announced title and known console exclusive. Some have compared it to Borderlands based on the loot aspect, but the similarities probably end there: this is a fantasy-inspired action RPG that focuses mainly on shiny armors, big swords, and melee combat. Godfall will be available in late 2020 for not only the PS5, but on the PC through the Epic Games Store.

“We’re innovating with Godfall to provide a fresh take on action RPGs by rewarding skill-based offensive gameplay and making every hit matter,” commented Keith Lee, Creative Director of Godfall and CEO of Counterplay Games. “Namely, we want to feed into that yearning for the next best piece in your character build, so we plan to provide plenty of loot to players to ensure there’s meaningful impact to gameplay and playstyles.”
