Is 240 Hz overkill? ASUS doesn’t think so. In fact, it thinks gamers could benefit from an even higher refresh rate: the company’s latest IPS monitor, the TUF Gaming VG279QM, refreshes at an incredible 280 Hz. This is a 27″ IPS display with a 1920 x 1080 resolution and ELMB Sync, a proprietary technology that combines Extreme Low Motion Blur backlight strobing and variable refresh rates for a blur- and tear-free experience.

The ELMB (Extreme Low Motion Blur) mode allows for a 1ms MPRT spec as well and offers a strobing blur reduction backlight. There is talk on the spec pages that this will also feature their ELMB-sync technology, allowing for simultaneous use of the blur reduction mode and VRR. You can see our review of their VG27AQ display for more info about ELMB-sync.
