Conclusion
In today’s overclocking review, we focused on overclocking the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER Founders Edition video card. The goal was to find out how well this video card overclocks, how high we can get it, what differences in performance we can observe and the impact of the overclock on power and temperature. You can check out our full review of this video card here. This article serves as a baseline for AIB RTX 2080 SUPER cards that we may review in the future as well as future generations of high-end RTX cards.
Our final overclock results gave us a 5-15% gain across the games we examined during the review at a 4k resolution. The GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER Founders Edition already harnesses a lot of the capabilities of the GPU before overclocking. We were able to increase the observed boost clock of the card by 7.1% and the memory clock by 5.8%. This lead to a performance increase across our selection of games between 5 and 15% at 4k resolution with settings maximized in all games except for two.
Final Points
Looking at our final results, one of the other conclusions that we’re able to reach about the GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER Founders Edition is that while the GPU is able to run most games at 4k, it’s not exactly a true 4k gaming card. This puts it in a weird spot of being fast for 1440p but not quite there for 4k. It pretty much means this will give you a great 1440p gaming experience in today’s games. New games coming out this year may challenge it at 1440p. Regardless, compared to the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition, the $500 savings make it an interesting value in comparison to the top shelf for some serious GPU power.
