Warning: The footage you are about to see may be upsetting to some viewers could definitely apply to the latest South Park episode, which involves dog excrement and GTA VI. It’s never a dull moment for the residents of South Park, and this week is no exception. The boys are once again on an adventure to uncover the latest mystery afflicting their daily lives and at the end of this week’s episode get an unexpected glimpse of what’s to come when Grand Theft Auto VI releases.

Per transcription from VGC,

“The graphics are seriously next-level. You see the world-building? It’s a dog, taking a poop, and people can pick up the dog poop.

You can throw things at the person with dog poop, and if they choose to fight back, you can pick up the dog poop, and actually attack them with the dog poop. That is what is coming in November.”

– South Park

Is this truly newsworthy? Probably not, but in a time of so much dismal content about price hikes, layoffs, and product shortages, a mundane giggle can go a long way. Matt and Trey are well known for their political satire and social commentary, but they also work with game publishers from time to time to poke fun at what’s most popular at the time. Their World of Warcraft crossover episode is still considered a classic among the gaming community, and Rockstar no doubt was happy to oblige in this brief cameo, given the over-the-top absurdity of some of the antics in its upcoming game (some of which may be based on real-life events). Speaking of mundane, while the joke was merely a mechanism for a story subplot, it does bring up the point of whether, or when, a game developer should draw the line on where to stop in making a title more immersive for players. Today it could be poop, but where does that lead or stop? Perhaps a question for another time, but GTA 6 is set to arrive on consoles in a few weeks, on November 19.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
