Noctua’s premium NH-U12A tower cooler (120 mm) launched to rave reviews last year, but aesthetically minded users couldn’t help but echo a common complaint that’s been levied at nearly all of the company’s releases: why the heck did it have to come in beige-and-brown? Well, the whining hasn’t gone unnoticed, as Noctua is reportedly prepping a Chromax edition of the NH-U12A that dumps the “poop” colors for a slick, all-black scheme.

Evidence of the release came from reddit user hoopon, who posted a now-removed screenshot (via TechPowerUp) of an exchange with Noctua support. According to the representative, the company is aiming to release a stealth version of the NH-U12A in Q3 2020. Another redditor, Bergh3m, claims to have heard something similar: “They told me end of q2/early q3 when i asked at the start of the year, good to see an update.”

“The NH-U12A is the latest, 5th generation of Noctua’s award-winning NH-U12 series of 120mm size premium-quality quiet CPU coolers,” the product description reads. “Conceived to push the envelope of the 120mm form factor, it combines two of Noctua’s flagship model NF-A12x25 PWM 120mm fans with a completely redesigned heatsink featuring 7 heatpipes and an increased fin surface area for superior heat dissipation. This way, the NH-U12A can rival the performance of many 140mm size coolers while offering 120mm class case and PCIe compatibility.”
