After months of speculation (and ugly development kit photos), Sony has finally revealed the design of the PlayStation 5. Unfortunately, it’s already being mocked by gamers, many of whom are comparing the next-generation console’s aesthetics to Alienware cases. Others insist that it’s just a big, futurisitic, two-toned router.

“At launch, we will offer two options: a PlayStation 5 console with an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive and a PlayStation 5 Digital Edition without a disc drive,” wrote Sony.

“The PS5 gameplay experience will be the same, so the choice is all yours. While there are some slight differences in the look of each model, for the overall design, we wanted to deliver a console that’s bold, stunning, and unlike any previous generation of PlayStation.”

Sony certainly nailed the latter, as the PlayStation 5 design is nothing like what most folks might have imagined. Pricing of the console(s) remains unknown.
