Crysis has received a lot of renewed attention in 2020. It began with rumors of some kind of potential project in the works. Then there were snippets in Crytek demos, a clever April Fools’ joke, and finally an official announcement that a remaster was indeed coming. Needless to say, many have been waiting to see what it’ll actually look like. Well, the wait is over: some of the first screenshots have been posted on the Microsoft Store.

These images may seem a bit underwhelming, especially to those in the PC community, but they do come from the Xbox One version. Specs list a download size of only 7.01 GB, which matches the PC version on Origin. It also includes support for HDR10 and 4K, but these screenshots are all under 1080p. Crytek had previously stated that the PC version would receive the modern treatment, with many state-of-the-art features. Hopefully, we actually see those when it gets launched on July 23rd. A gameplay trailer is expected to be officially released on July 1st.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
