In a personal, long-winded article posted to the official PlayStation blog today, Jeff Adams (Associate Art Director, Crystal Dynamics) revealed that everyone’s favorite web slinger, Spider-Man, would be coming to Marvel’s Avengers. There’s a huge problem here, though – Peter Parker will only be available on the PlayStation 4 version when it launches on September 4, 2020. We’re not sure if this is a timed exclusive, but PC (Steam), Xbox, and Stadia players are already feeling miffed.

“When Spider-Man comes to our stable of heroes, we’ll be marking his debut with an in-game event that will introduce him to the wider world of Marvel’s Avengers,” Adams wrote. “The event is comprised of a series of unique challenges for the hero to take on, testing his abilities, and yielding some exciting results. And like the rest of our heroes in Marvel’s Avengers, we will offer multiple cosmetic outfits and gameplay experience options, so you can make your vision of the wall crawler a reality.”

The decision to put Spider-Man in the game seems like an early one, since Crystal Dynamics doesn’t have a single in-game image of him to show yet. Adams has promised that his costume will remain faithful to Steve Ditko and John Romita Sr.’s original designs, though, which is a good thing, since the rest of the Avengers have drawn a lot of criticism for how they look (apparently, everyone is upset because they look nothing like their movie counterparts).
