Right on the heels of yesterday’s little supernova teaser, NVIDIA has confirmed that it’ll be hosting a special event on September 1 with a new “Ultimate Countdown” website, which features a giant timer ticking down to what appears to be a celebratory occasion. “21 days. 21 years,” the heading reads. “Before we enter the future, join us to celebrate the biggest breakthroughs in PC gaming since 1999.”

While RTX isn’t explicitly noted anywhere, everyone seems to think that this is when Jensen Huang will unveil NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 30 Series graphics cards. They could be right – at the end of an accompanying article (“Tonight I’m Gonna Game Like It’s 1999!”), the author states the following: “On September 1st, we usher in a new era with a special event broadcast featuring NVIDIA CEO, Jensen Huang.”

And what better way to usher in a new era than announcing higher-performing GPUs? As we draw closer to the event, NVIDIA is inviting gamers to share their memories over the years on social media.

“1999 was a wild time, and gaming’s only got better since – we’ll be posting our favorite memories spanning the last 21 years on social media,” NVIDIA’s John Fenno wrote. “Each day will be a brand new year in succession, until we reach 2019 on August 31st. We welcome you to join us! Here’s a .zip kit you can use to create and share your memories, and if you do it via #UltimateCountdown on any social platform, everyone will be able to see and share your favorite memories and moments.”
