Confirming last week’s rumors, Ubisoft has officially unveiled Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake. As its name implies, this is a “full-scale” remake of the original 2003 classic that not only features updated graphics, but new combat, puzzles, camera angles, and even captured performances as well. The game will be released on January 21, 2021 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC via Epic Games Store, Ubisoft Store, and UPLAY+ (sorry, Steam users).

You can check out the announcement trailer below. Unfortunately, long-time Prince of Persia fans don’t seem particularly pleased with the remake’s graphics, which seem worse than the original game’s in some respects. (Okay, maybe that’s an exaggeration, but it really looks like something that should have been released years ago.)

“While playing through Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, players can also unlock the original 1989 Prince of Persia. Preordering the game also gets players access to the Back To The Origins set, which includes the Prince’s original outfit and weapons set from the 2003 Sands of Time, as well as a Classic Filter that changes the look and feel of the game,” Ubisoft added.
