Remedy has revealed that Control Ultimate Edition will be released for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S via digital and retail channels on February 2, 2021 and March 2, 2021, respectively. The next-gen console version of the game features a 60 FPS Performance Mode, as well as a 30 FPS Graphics Mode that includes ray tracing.

We’ll still have to wait a bit for the full trailer, but you can check out what Control Ultimate Edition looks like running on the PlayStation 5 in the short next-gen teaser below. Ray tracing is clearly working as advertised in the 30 FPS mode, which can be accessed from the display portion of the options menu.

Anyone who purchased Control Ultimate Edition for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One can upgrade to the next-gen console versions at no cost. “We will offer a free next-gen digital upgrade for those who buy Control Ultimate Edition on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One,” publisher 505 Games noted in an earlier blog post.

Control Ultimate Edition includes the base game, as well as its two expansions, The Foundation and AWE. The latter is especially cool because it definitively ties Control to Remedy’s psychological thriller from 2010, Alan Wake.
