Overclocked Radeon RX 6800 Performance

We will start by looking at performance at 1440p. We are using the Radeon RX 6800 XT and GeForce RTX 3080 FE as data points to put the performance in perspective. We are also including the GeForce RTX 3070 FE because it is the closest in price to the Radeon RX 6800. Just keep in mind in all the data that the Radeon RX 6800 is more expensive at $579 while the GeForce RTX 3070 FE is less expensive at $499. The main thing we are looking at is how much performance overclocking adds to the Radeon RX 6800.

Watch Dogs Legion

In Watch Dogs Legion we are running at 1440p with the “Ultra” preset and HD Textures installed. The AMD Radeon RX 6800 is playable in this game at this setting producing 74FPS. Overclocking it improves performance by 4% to 77FPS. It doesn’t really change the gameplay experience, but gives you a few frames per second higher in the minimum FPS, which helps. It puts performance above the GeForce RTX 3070 FE however.

Horizon Zero Dawn

In Horizon Zero Dawn the AMD Radeon RX 6800 is very playable at 1440p with the highest in-game settings. It allows for 111FPS average. Overclocking it improves performance by 4%. This doesn’t change the experience as it was already very fast in this game. Performance maintains a good lead over the GeForce RTX 3070 FE.

Red Dead Redemption 2

AMD Radeon RX 6800 Overclocked Red Dead Redemption 2

In Red Dead Redemption two the AMD Radeon RX 6800 is playable at 1440p and all “Ultra” settings. Overclocking it improves performance by 8%. This is the highest overclock performance difference so far in our testing. This game is very GPU dependent and benefits more from a GPU overclock. This helps keep the Radeon RX 6800 above 70FPS while gaming. This performance is well above the GeForce RTX 3070 FE. And it is only 5% from the stock Radeon RX 6800 XT performance.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint

AMD Radeon RX 6800 Overclocked Ghost Recon Breakpoint

In Ghost Recon Breakpoint we are easily able to play this game at 1440p with the highest in-game settings on the AMD Radeon RX 6800. In this game we get a very big 10% performance improvement from overclocking the Radeon RX 6800. This is now the highest result we’ve experienced in our testing. The overclocking made a big impact on this game since it is very GPU dependent. That overclocked performance is what it takes to blast past the GeForce RTX 3070 FE in this game.

Control

AMD Radeon RX 6800 Overclocked Control

In Control the Radeon RX 6800 is playable at the “High” quality setting at 1440p. Overclocking it yields an 8% performance advantage in this game since is very GPU dependent. This maintains the lead over the GeForce RTX 3070 FE by quite a bit and comes close to Radeon RX 6800 XT performance.

Wolfenstein Youngblood

AMD Radeon RX 6800 Overclocked Wolfenstein Youngblood

In Wolfenstein Youngblood the Radeon RX 6800 is very playable above 200FPS. Overclocking it improves performance by 9%. It is faster than the GeForce RTX 3070 FE.

The Division 2

AMD Radeon RX 6800 Overclocked The Division 2

In The Division 2 the Radeon RX 6800 is very playable at 1440p with the highest settings. Overclocking it improves performance by 7%.

Metro Exodus

AMD Radeon RX 6800 Overclocked Metro Exodus

In Metro Exodus the Radeon RX 6800 is just barely able to maintain 60FPS, but so is the GeForce RTX 3070 FE. Once we overclock the Radeon RX 6800 we get a boost of 7% more performance. This allows a smoother experience as we stay above 60FPS more. The Radeon RX 6800 XT and GeForce RTX 3080 FE are a world of difference, but those cards are much more expensive.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

AMD Radeon RX 6800 Overclocked Shadow of the Tomb Raider

In Shadow of the Tomb Raider the AMD Radeon RX 6800 is playable, but at the bottom of the pack. That is until we overclock it, where it gains 5% in performance and is now faster than the GeForce RTX 3070 FE.
