Supply shortages have managed to plague nearly every sector of tech in 2020, and it appears that they will continue into 2021. In addition to the lack of AMD and NVIDIA stock, MyDrivers has reported that there is a also shortage for two of Intel’s more affordable chipsets, the B460 and H410.

The demand for B460 and H410 chipsets has skyrocketed. Both of these are aimed at business solutions or those working on a tight budget. Major manufacturers such as ASRock, ASUSTeK, BIOSTAR, GIGABYTE, and MSI have reported that they are nearly out of stock and are expected to raise prices for remaining inventory. The B460 and H410 chipsets represent the bottom two offerings for Comet Lake-S processors. It’s possible that resources are being focused on the Intel 500 series chipsets rather than these lower-end boards.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
