The PC edition of Hitman 3 isn’t the only version that’s getting ray tracing. In a new interview with Xbox Wire, IO Interactive CTO Maurizio de Pascale confirmed that the beautiful graphics technology will also make its way into the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S versions of the game. The development isn’t exactly surprising for the flagship console, as it boasts some relatively beefy hardware, but it’ll be interesting to see how Hitman 3 runs on the weaker Series S with ray tracing enabled.

“We see Hitman as a ‘live game’ and our launch date on January 20 is just the beginning of a journey, in which we’re going to keep working on the game and adding new features,” de Pascale said after being asked what enhancement he was most excited about bringing to the Xbox Series X|S versions of Hitman 3.

“It’s great that the GPU in the Series X|S has hardware support for Ray-Tracing. We’ve already started working on RT technology for the renderer in our Glacier engine, and once that’s deemed ready for prime time, we’ll definitely bring it to the Series X|S hardware.”

Hitman 3 is now available on the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Stadia, and PC (via Epic Games Store) platforms. It doesn’t appear that IO Interactive has confirmed that it will be bringing ray tracing support to the PlayStation 5 version yet, but we see no reason as to why Sony’s next-gen console wouldn’t be getting it.
