A new Star Wars: Knights of the Republic adventure is reportedly in development, but it isn’t by BioWare or any other studio owned by EA. The rumor comes from franchise insider Bespin Bulletin, who recently spoke during the B.O.B. podcast and claimed that fans will “never guess” what studio is working on the game.

“Amongst my digging, I heard there is a Knights of the Old Republic project in development somewhere,” Bespin Bulletin (via VGC) said. “I talked to a couple of people, and I also found out that [Bloomberg’s] Jason Schreier said that it’s not with EA, and we’ll ‘never guess’ who the studio is that’s making this game.”

Bespin Bulletin also revealed that EA is working on not one but multiple new Star Wars titles. One of these will supposedly be a bounty hunter game, which suggests that Mandalorians (the popularity of which are at an all-time high thanks to the Disney+ show) will be featured to some extent.

“I don’t know if the bounty hunter game is with them or if it’s with Ubisoft,” Bulletin added. “But yeah, EA is working on stuff and there’s another unannounced game at EA, which I have no idea what it is. I don’t think it’s Battlefront 3.”

Massive Entertainment recently confirmed that it is hard at work on an open-world Star Wars game, effectively ending EA’s exclusivity with the franchise. While it isn’t clear what studio is developing the new Knights of the Republic game, Wushu Studios’ Nate Najda has hinted that it isn’t as mysterious as we’d think. “It’s just not a household name most people are aware of.”
