Alienware has announced that it’s launching a new laptop called the m15 Ryzen Edition R5. This is a notable release because it represents the company’s first AMD-based laptop in over a decade—the previous one was the Aurora mALX, which came out 14 years ago in 2007 alongside classic game titles such as Halo 3, World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Alienware’s m15 Ryzen Edition R5 laptops feature Ryzen 5000 H-Series Mobile Processors, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series Laptop GPUs, and user-upgradeable 3,200 Mhz DDR4 memory. They’re also one of the first notebooks to feature an optional ultra-low profile mechanical keyboard developed in partnership with Cherry MX. Select configurations will be available on April 20 starting at $1,793.98.

These gaming relics all made their red-carpet debut in 2007, like Alienware’s last AMD-based laptop, the Aurora mALX. Fast forward 14 years to present day, and game experiences have evolved quite a bit. Powering today’s blockbuster games requires serious performance and very few know what that requires better than our friends at AMD and NVIDIA.
