With their ambitions growing greater by each passing day, the owners of the storied Atari gaming brand have opted to expand their company by establishing two new divisions: Atari Gaming and Atari Blockchain. The former will be focused on developing free-to-play mobile games, licensing classic catalog titles, and supporting the VCS hybrid console, while the latter will manage Atari’s Ethereum-based (ERC-20) cryptocurrency, the Atari Token. Atari Tokens are being developed as an option for paying for digital goods on the VCS console, within Atari games on the blockchain, and even Atari’s upcoming hotels.

For Frédéric Chesnais, current CEO and a significant shareholder of Atari: “8 years ago, when I came back, the brand was given for dead. This spectacular turnaround is the result of solid teamwork and support from the shareholders, and I would like to thank each and every one of these individuals. We can all be proud of this outcome. The Atari brand is alive, more than ever, and this organization in two divisions will help us adapt to the changes in our business line.”
