Finance outlet CTFN shared a story about Square Enix yesterday that suggested the popular publisher behind hit franchises such as Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and Tomb Raider was being targeted by potential buyers who were interested in acquiring the company. Square Enix denied those rumors in a statement published today, claiming that it didn’t receive any offers and had no interest in selling its businesses to another party. The company’s share prices rose 12 percent today thanks to the rumor.

“We do not consider selling off the company or any part of its businesses, nor have we received any offer from any third party to acquire the company or any part of its businesses,” the company said in a statement.
