Konami fans who were hoping to see new installments of Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill being unveiled at E3 2021 should drop all expectations, as the Japanese gaming giant has revealed that it will not be attending the popular video game industry trade event this year. Konami confirmed its absence in a statement posted to its official Twitter account last night, which noted that it was, however, in “deep development on a number of key projects” that will be shared in the coming months. E3 2021 will play out as an all-digital experience from June 12 through June 15.

Due to timing, we will not be ready to present at E3 this year. We want to reassure our fans that we are in deep development on a number of key projects, so please stay tuned for some updates in the coming months. While we are not participating this year, we have great respect for the ESA and know that 2021 will be a great success. We will continue to support the ESA and wish the best to all participants at this year’s show.
