AMD’s new cutting-edge spatial upscaling technology, FidelityFX Super Resolution, is coming to Microsoft’s next-generation Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles. A spokesperson with the tech giant confirmed the news to IGN today, noting that Xbox developers would be able to leverage FidelityFX Super Resolution in the future to increase framerates and resolution. Microsoft will have more to share about Xbox Series X|S’ FidelityFX Super Resolution support “soon.”
This comes as no surprise as Microsoft announced during Game Stack Live that it incorporated the FidelityFX tools into the development kits for Xbox Series X/S. This allowed developers to utilize platform-centric optimizations with AMD FidelityFX directly from the development kits, which helped lay the foundation for FidelityFX Super Resolution support.
