1440p Gaming Performance
We will start by testing at 1440p gaming performance on this page. On the next page, we will look at 4K performance. We will include Ray Tracing and DLSS in the games that support it on this page with the results.
Metro Exodus Enhanced
In Metro Exodus Enhanced you will always get Ray Tracing, you cannot turn it off, it is part of the game. We are running this game at 1440p with the Shading Quality on “Extreme” and Ray Tracing on “Ultra.” These are the highest quality settings. In addition, we include DLSS results on “Quality” mode.
The new GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Founders Edition improves upon the GeForce RTX 3070 Founders Edition by 6% without DLSS in this game. The RTX 3070 Ti FE is also 18% faster than the Radeon RX 6800 and on par with the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti FE. When we turn on Quality DLSS performance improves quite a bit and is at a playable 60FPS now. This is on par with the RTX 2080 Ti FE and 5% faster than the RTX 3070 FE.
Cyberpunk 2077
In rasterized performance, without Ray Tracing, the AMD Radeon RX 6800 does very well in Cyberpunk 2077 at 1440p with “Ultra” settings. It provides playable performance in the game, and is actually 10% faster than the new GeForce RTX 3070 Ti FE. The new GeForce RTX 3070 Ti FE is also playable, and improves upon the GeForce RTX 3070 FE by 6%. It is also on equal footing with the RTX 2080 Ti FE.
When we turn on even just “Medium” Ray Tracing in Cyberpunk 2077 at 1440p it absolutely destroys performance, and no video card is playable. The Radeon RX 6800 takes the largest hit in performance and is the slowest with Ray Tracing. The new GeForce RTX 3070 Ti FE improves upon the RTX 3070 FE by 7% in performance but is still unplayable.
Once we turn on Quality DLSS that changes the game. Now we find “Medium” Ray Tracing very playable at 1440p. Performance is in the 60’s on all the GeForce RTX cards, and the game feels smooth. The DLSS performance on the RTX 3070 Ti FE improves upon the RTX 3070 FE by 6%. It’s also faster than the RTX 2080 Ti FE by 8%.
Watch Dogs Legion
Similar to Cyberpunk 2077, in Watch Dogs Legion the AMD Radeon RX 6800 does extremely well at 144op in rasterized performance at “Ultra” settings. It provides the highest performance. It’s 7% faster than the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti FE. The GeForce RTX 3070 Ti FE improves upon the RTX 3070 FE by 8%.
Also similar to Cyberpunk 2077, when we turn on Ray Tracing performance drops considerably. The AMD Radeon RX 6800 takes the largest hit. No card is playable though. The RTX 3070 Ti FE does improve upon the RTX 3070 FE by 12%. We need to enable DLSS for the game to actually be playable at 1440p with “Ultra” Ray Tracing. When we do so the DLSS performance between the cards are very close. The RTX 3070 Ti FE has the advantage, but they are so close you can’t tell the difference in-game.
Dirt 5
In Dirt 5 at 1440p we find the AMD Radeon RX 6800 video card on top once again in rasterized performance. The new GeForce RTX 3070 Ti FE improves upon the RTX 3070 FE by 10%.
Turning on Ray Tracing in this game doesn’t cause a large drop in performance, and all video cards are very playable. The GeForce RTX 3070 Ti FE manages to outperform the Radeon RX 6800 by just 3%. It also improves upon the RTX 3070 FE by 7%.
Horizon Zero Dawn
In Horizon Zero Dawn the AMD Radeon RX 6800 and GeForce RTX 3070 Ti FE are neck-and-neck in performance. They both provide the same performance at 1440p, and it is very playable. The GeForce RTX 3070 Ti FE improves upon the RTX 3070 FE by 8%.
Red Dead Redemption 2
Here is another strong showing for the AMD Radeon RX 6800 in rasterized performance. In Red Dead Redemption 2 at 1440p and the highest settings the Radeon RX 6800 provides the best gameplay experience and the highest performance. It’s 10% faster than the new GeForce RTX 3070 Ti FE. The new RTX 3070 Ti FE improves upon the RTX 3070 FE by 7%.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020
In Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti FE offers the fastest performance. It improves upon the RTX 3070 FE by 7%.
Wolfenstein Youngblood
Wolfenstein Youngblood performs great with Ray Tracing and Ray Tracing with DLSS. Without DLSS performance is playable on all the RTX cards. The new RTX 3070 Ti FE improves upon the RTX 3070 FE by 6%. With DLSS it’s 5% faster.
