1440p Gaming Performance
We will start by testing at 1440p gaming performance on this page. On the next page, we will look at 4K performance. We will include Ray Tracing and DLSS in the games that support it on this page with the results.
Metro Exodus Enhanced
In Metro Exodus Enhanced we are running at 1440p with the “Extreme” Shading Quality and “Ultra” Ray Tracing. Where DLSS is enabled, “Quality” level is used. Overclocking the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Founders Edition improves base performance by 7%. It allows the game to play very smoothly even without DLSS. Overclocked, it is 7% faster than the GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3090 GAMING OC video card. Turning on DLSS improves performance greatly up to 87FPS, and the game is very smooth. With DLSS it is 6% faster with the overclock and the GeForce RTX 3090 factory overclocked video card. This is impressive.
Cyberpunk 2077
In Cyberpunk 2077 we are running at 1440p at default “Ultra” settings. Overclocking the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FE improves performance by 8%. This brings it over the Radeon RX 6900 XT and GeForce RTX 3090 and provides the fastest performance at 90FPS average. It’s 9% faster than the GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3090 GAMING OC.
In the above graph, we have now turned on “Ultra” Ray Tracing at 1440p. Overclocking the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FE makes the game actually playable with Ultra Ray Tracing at 1440p. It improves performance by 9%. This also puts it 9% faster than the GeForce RTX 3090. When we turn on DLSS performance improves to a whopping 81FPS and is very smooth, making it 7% faster than the GeForce RTX 3090 with DLSS.
Dirt 5
In Dirt 5 at 1440p with “Ultra High” settings overclocking the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FE improves performance by 9%. This also makes it 6% faster than the GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3090 GAMING OC.
In this graph above we have turned on Ray Tracing in Dirt 5 at 1440p. The overclocked GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FE comes out on top and is 6% faster when overclocked. This also makes it 7% faster than the GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3090 GAMING OC.
Watch Dogs Legion
In Watch Dogs Legion at 1440p at “Ultra” settings the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FE is beat by the GeForce RTX 3090 and Radeon RX 6900 XT, that is until we overclock it. Overclocking it improves performance by 4%. This is enough to put it on par with Radeon RX 6900 XT performance and exceed GeForce RTX 3090 performance.
In this graph, we have enabled “Ultra” Ray Tracing at 1440p as well as DLSS. Overclocking the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FE makes the game very playable at 60FPS average even without DLSS. It has improved performance by 5%. This also makes it 5% faster than the GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3090 GAMING OC. When we turn on DLSS performance really picks up and the game is super smooth at near 80FPS average.
Horizon Zero Dawn
In Horizon Zero Dawn at 1440p with the highest in-game settings overclocking the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FE improves performance 4% making it the fastest video card here. It’s faster than the GeForce RTX 3090.
Overclocking the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FE gives us a smaller 3% performance advantage in Flight Sim 2020. However, this is at 1440p, which is notoriously more CPU-bound. It still makes it the fastest card in this lineup, however, beating the GeForce RTX 3090 in performance. At 57FPS this game is very smooth and playable and provides the best experience.
Red Dead Redemption 2
Red Dead Redemption 2 is demanding at “Ultra” settings, but here the overclocked GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FE does well. Overclocking has improved performance by 7%. It’s 5% faster than the GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3090 GAMING OC.
Wolfenstein Youngblood
Wolfenstein Youngblood performs at a blistering 331FPS at 1440p on the overclocked GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FE, this is up 7% from default. This clearly puts it ahead of the GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3090 GAMING OC.
