The PC version of Marvel’s Avengers received a new update today that allows players to enable AMD’s new super-optimized spatial upscaling technology, FidelityFX Super Resolution, for increased performance in the superhero action game. Developer Crystal Dynamics confirmed the addition in a post on Steam this morning, noting that AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution has now replaced Fidelity FX Contrast Adaptive Sharpening (CAS), another of red team’s technologies that can help restore details that might be lost after the application of temporal anti-aliasing. Marvel’s Avengers’ FidelityFX Super Resolution support is notable because the addition makes it one of the first games to feature both AMD and NVIDIA’s unique upscaling technologies. Other games that include support for both AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution and NVIDIA DLSS are Edge of Eternity and Necromunda: Hired Gun.

We’ve added support for AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution. AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution has replaced Fidelity FX CAS which was previously supported by Marvel’s Avengers. If you had been using CAS before we recommend using FSR instead.
