1440p Gaming Performance
To start the bidding today, we will look at the 1440p performance of the EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING video card in an assortment of games. All of the games are running at the highest quality selections available sans Ray Tracing and DLSS which we will look at separately. For each game, we are using the game benchmark included with the game and reporting the average frames per second.
Cyberpunk 2077
In Cyberpunk 2077, we are using the Ultra quality presets without modifications. We are performing a manual run-through of a set driving route through the city and averaging our results over multiple runs.
The EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING turned in a performance of 59.9 FPS which bested the MSI Radeon RX 6700, XT GAMING X, by 12.6% or 6.7 FPS. Overclocking the EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING boosted performance by 7.3% to 64.3 FPS.
Watch Dogs: Legion
In Watch Dogs: Legion we do have the HD Textures installed. We are running in “Ultra” quality with the Extreme Detail slider maxed out, as well as the Headlights quality option maxed out. In this way, we are running “maximum” game settings.
The EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING trailed the MSI Radeon RX 6700, XT GAMING X, by 0.3 FPS or about 0.4%. Overclocking the EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING boosted it by 7.3% or 4.6 FPS allowing it to take the lead.
Horizon Zero Dawn
In Horizon Zero Dawn the EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING averaged 107.3 FPS which bested the MSI Radeon RX 6700 XT GAMING X by 10.7 FPS. Overclocking the EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING increased performance by 6.8% over the stock configuration. With all cards turning in scores over 90 FPS, they’re all great choices for Horizon Zero Dawn.
Red Dead Redemption 2
In Red Dead Redemption 2, the EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING rang up 63.7 FPS compared to the 59.4 FPS of the MSI Radeon RX 6700 XT GAMING X. Overclocking the EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING pushed it further ahead at 68.7 FPS which is a 7.8% boost over stock clocks.
Metro Exodus
In Metro Exodus, the EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING pulled 62.2 FPS out of its hat, coming up short of the MSI Radeon RX 6700 XT GAMING X at 70.4 FPS (hats). Overclocking the EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING produced 66.4 FPS leaving it on the bottom rung of the hat rack.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider
In Shadow of the Tomb Raider, because all of the cards performed so well, we went ahead and turned on Ray Tracing for testing at 1440p. The EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING jumped to the front of the line with 72 FPS. The MSI Radeon RX 6700 XT GAMING X turned a 55 FPS performance. Overclocking the EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING increased its lead over the others by 9.7% or 7 FPS.
