Power and Temperature

Power

All wattage was taken while gaming within Cyberpunk 2077 using GPUz’s GPU Chip Power Draw reading.

EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING Power Usage

The EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING’s chip pulled 182W according to GPUz while the MSI Radeon RX 6700 XT GAMING X drew 10W less at 172W. Overclocking the EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING added 14W or 7.7% to its chip draw. Keep in mind this is purely GPU chip draw and is not indicative of total board power.

Temperature

The ambient room temperature at the time of testing was 22 degrees Celsius.

EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING Temperatures

The EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING’s default fan curve landed its gaming temperature at 59.1 degrees Celsius. It maintained that with the fans running but not audible without an issue. That was a bit warmer than the MSI Radeon RX 6700 GAMING X that leveled out at 53 degrees Celsius. With the EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING maxed out on both core clock and fans, it dropped to 52.5 degrees Celsius.

For comparison, the GeForce RTX 3070 Founders Edition ran at 76c. Therefore the cooling on the EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING improves upon the Founder’s Edition temperature by a great deal at 59.1c. That’s a huge difference with this custom video card.
