Netflix has confirmed that its highly popular and nostalgic nod to ’80s sci-fi and horror classics, Stranger Things, will return in its fourth season in 2022.

Originally announced in September 2019, season four of Stranger Things will expand upon the supernatural world developed by series creators The Duffer Brothers and bring back fan-favorite characters such as Jim Hopper (David Harbour), Hawkins’ chief of police.

While story details are still being kept under wraps, Netflix has shared a teaser that comprises classic moments from the first three seasons mixed with short glimpses of season four footage to keep fans guessing on what kind of adventures and monstrosities Eleven, Mike, Lucas, and other key characters will be faced with next.

The last season of Stranger Things premiered on July 4, 2019, just over two years ago.

“The Duffer Brothers have captivated viewers around the world with Stranger Things and we’re thrilled to expand our relationship with them to bring their vivid imaginations to other film and series projects our members will love,” said Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer, Netflix. “We can’t wait to see what The Duffer Brothers have in store when they step outside the world of The Upside Down.”
