Rockstar Games has announced the first extended look at Grand Theft Auto 6, and it’s launching as a Netflix exclusive. “Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look” premieres on Netflix on Thursday, August 27 at 3 PM ET. If you don’t have a Netflix subscription, you can watch the same content for free on Rockstar’s official YouTube channel and the GTA VI website beginning at 9 PM ET the same day. The six-hour exclusivity window is the first time a major game reveal has been structured with a paywall to see it sooner.
Rockstar has released exactly two trailers for GTA 6 to date: the December 2023 announcement trailer and a May 2025 follow-up. Neither contained gameplay. The August 27 presentation is billed as a first-of-its-kind partnership with Netflix, with the streaming platform calling it “a first-of-its-kind partnership to premiere an extended look at the next evolution in the groundbreaking Grand Theft Auto series.” Reports suggest the footage could run close to 30 minutes, which would make it effectively a gameplay showcase rather than a standard trailer drop. GTA 6 is scheduled to launch November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, with no confirmed PC release date. Pricing is $80 for the standard edition and $100 for the Ultimate Edition. Rockstar’s physical version ships as a code in a box.
Rockstar is asking fans to either pay for a streaming subscription or wait six hours for content about a game they’ve already been waiting 13 years for. Though, given the years of delays that keep getting stacked on, we’re not sure another 6 hours is anything to get excited about. Netflix’s VP of Nonfiction Series called GTA reveals “cultural moments in their own right,” which is true, and is presumably why Rockstar chose to monetize the moment rather than release it freely (Ed: I wonder how much this cost Netflix?). If the August 27 numbers are strong for Netflix, expect other publishers to explore similar arrangements.

Sure, who cares. By the time it is on PC we'll be fatigued by all the gameplay footage.
I have netflix but I probably won't even look at it until it hits public youtube.

I watched a minute then moved on. I will probably get it when it comes to pc. Hopefully in 3 months or so.
I don't expect to get this unless its bundled with a hardware purchase and that's even less likely given the current lack of any new GPUs on the horizon.
Otherwise, my only real interest in these games has been more from a technological standpoint given their non-UE engine, and the open world driving aspect while enjoying their radio stuff. I've had some fun there but otherwise, not really into anything else with the game. CP2077 at least puts a sci-fi spin to it which I'm far more interested in even if most of the stories are depressing to me.

You think it'll be released on PC ~3 months after consoles?
My guess is 6-8 months, but I have a theory that if the leeker releases the bootleg version onto the net, then Rockstar might be forced to move up the timeline.
This right here is where 3 months came up... they want the online money. Pc drives that.
Maybe but Rockstar has typically waited a year, sometimes more, between console>PC releases. GTA V was roughly 18 months after and RDR2 was almost an exact year. These days anything is possible but just saying.
