SK hynix originally launched its Gold P31 lineup of PCIe 3.0 NVMe M.2 SSDs back in August 2020. These were notable for being not only the memory giant’s first consumer-facing PCIe SSDs, but also the world’s first 128-layer NAND flash-based consumer SSDs.

Joining the initial 1 TB and 500 GB Gold P31 models today is a new SKU that offers a much more spacious 2 TB capacity. Similar to its siblings, SK hynix’s new 2TB Gold P31 SSD features sequential read and write speeds of 3,500MB/s and 3,200MB/s, respectively. The drive also features an industry-leading endurance rating of 1,200 TBW, the highest out of all the Gold P31 models (750 TBW for the 1 TB SKU).

“For customers’ demand for high-capacity and high-performance, the 2TB Gold P31 SSD will be their best choice,” said Sanglae Lee (Robert), SK hynix’s head of marketing. “SK hynix will continuously expand the consumer SSD product line-up in order to enhance its market presence.”

There are a ton of PCIe NVMe M.2 SSDs on the market today for storage enthusiasts to choose from, but SK hynix’s Gold P31 SSDs seem to stand apart for their impressive power efficiency. Tests by AnandTech suggest that the 1 TB Gold P31 is over 400 percent more efficient than comparable products.

SK hynix sells the PCIe NVMe Gold P31 lineup along with a SATA-interfaced Gold S31 series, both of which are available now on Amazon.com. The drives will be offered on Amazon’s Deal of the Day sale on August 23 to celebrate the 2TB Gold P31’s launch.
