4K Gaming Performance
Next, up, we’ll place all the chips in the middle of the table and see how the ASUS RTX 3070 TUF GAMING OC Video card performs at the 4K resolution. All of the games are running at the highest quality selections available sans Ray Tracing and DLSS which we will look at separately. For each game, we are using the game benchmark included with the game and reporting the average frames per second. Note that we did not report results on Watch Dogs: Legion as it simply requires more than 8GB of VRAM in order to run maxed out at 4K.
Cyberpunk 2077
In Cyberpunk 2077, the ASUS RTX 3070 TUF GAMING OC Video card turned in 28.7 FPS across the manual run through. This does not represent a good playing experience at all which is better than the MSI Radeon RX 6700 XT GAMING X’s 25.1 FPS. Overclocking the ASUS RTX 3070 TUF GAMING OC Video card bumped up the FPS to 31.6 which was not enough to make a difference other than jumping giving us a higher number to report to you in a bid to discourage you from playing this game at this resolution on these cards.
Horizon Zero Dawn
In Horizon Zero Dawn, the ASUS RTX 3070 TUF GAMING OC Video card achieved 62 FPS which is a decent margin over the MSI Radeon RX 6700 XT GAMING X that arrived at 50.3 FPS. Overclocking the ASUS RTX 3070 TUF GAMING OC Video card added 6.5% to its lead.
Red Dead Redemption 2
In Red Dead Redemption 2, the ASUS RTX 3070 TUF GAMING OC Video card chalked up 42.9 FPS which was ahead of the MSI Radeon RX 6700 XT GAMING X at 37.7 FPS. Overclocking the ASUS RTX 3070 TUF GAMING OC Video card bumped it up to 46 FPS. Based on the performance observed, we would not suggest maxing out image quality on any of these cards at 4K to play Red Dead.
Metro Exodus
In Metro Exodus, the ASUS RTX 3070 TUF GAMING OC Video card delivered 41.5 FPS which was above the 34.8 FPS that the MSI Radeon RX 6700 XT GAMING X turned in. Overclocking the ASUS RTX 3070 TUF GAMING OC Video card moved it to the top of the pile at 44.6 FPS. Regardless, this is not a game you’ll want to play at 4K with any of these cards.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider
In Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the ASUS RTX 3070 TUF GAMING OC Video card flipped through 60 frames per second which edged ahead of MSI Radeon RX 6700 XT GAMING X’s 57 flips per second. Overclocking the ASUS RTX 3070 TUF GAMING OC Video card flipped its performance up to 67 FPS, an 11.6% gain.
