Ryzen R9 5950X PCMark 10 Overall Score

For PCMark10 Overall Score, the Ryzen R9 5950X topped the charts at 8,267 PCMarks, besting the Ryzen 9 3950X by 961 PCMarks. Interestingly enough, enabling PBO on the R9 5950X dropped the score below the stock experience as the single-threaded performance was not quite as high.

The next three tests give us a better breakdown to show us the root cause of the differences.

PCMark 10 Essentials Score

The first component of the PCMark 10 Overall Score is the Essentials Score. On this one, we saw the Ryzen 9 5950X acquire 9,758 PCMarks, which beats the R9 3950X’s 9,241 PCMarks. Turning on PBO on the R9 5950X helped slightly, nudging it ahead of the stock configuration by 17 PCMarks.

PCMark 10 Productivity Score

The second component of the Overall Score is the Productivity Score. Here we see the stock R9 5950X configuration win the match with 10,571 PCMarks which absolutely smashed the R9 3950X’s 8,409 PCMarks. Turning on PBO gave the R9 5950X a bad haircut leaving it with 9,523 PCMarks.

PCMark 10 Digital Content Creation Score

The final component of the Overall Score is the Digital Content Creation Score. In this test, the Ryzen 9 5950X achieved 14,863 PCMarks, which outpaced the Ryzen 9 3950X’s 13,622 PCMarks. Turning on PBO increased the R9 5950X’s performance by 3.7% to crown it with the victory at 15,417.

Geekbench 5

Multicore

Moving on to Geekbench 5, we find the Ryzen 9 5950X at a score of 15,765, which bests the Ryzen 9 3950X’s 14,953. Turning on PBO adds another 8.5% to the R9 5950X’s score, giving it a total of 17,110.

Singlecore

With the single-core test box checked on Geekbench 5, we saw the Ryzen 9 5950X achieve a score of 1,692, a whopping 26% faster than the Ryzen 9 3950X’s 1,343 scores. Turning on PBO boosted the R9 5950X’s score by 9 which we could also state as an academic difference.

Sandra

Dhrystone Multithreaded

We now turn our attention to Sandra’s Dhrystone Multithreaded test where the Ryzen 9 5950X is actually defeated by a margin of 10 points (583 to 573) by the Ryzen 9 3950X. Turning on PBO makes all right with the world, boosting the R9 5950X up to 621 points.

Whetstone Multithreaded

On the Sandra Whetstone Multithreaded test, the Ryzen 9 5950X achieved a score of 458, which bested the Ryzen 9 3950X’s 425. Turning on PBO boosted the R9 5950’s performance up to 490, a 7% improvement.

Dhrystone Singlethreaded

On the Dhrystone single-threaded front, the Ryzen 9 5950X turned in near-identical scores with PBO on (43.8) and off (44). The Ryzen 9 3950X drove the caboose at a score of 35.6.

Whetstone Singlethreaded

For the Whetstone single-threaded test, the Ryzen 9 5950X accumulated a score of 22.2, besting the Ryzen 9 3950X’s 18.8 scores by 18.1%. PBO did not do much for the 5950X, shaving a tenth of a point from its score.
