Memory Read
Moving on to AIDA’s memory reading test, we found that the Ryzen 9 5950X could read 54,781 MB/s, which is 380 MB/s faster than the Ryzen 9 3950X at 53,401 MB/s while using the same memory with the same settings. Turning on PBO slowed down the memory reading to 54,734 MB/s on the R9 5950X.
Memory Write
On AIDA’s memory writing test, the Ryzen 9 5950X achieved 53,989 MB/s which is 588 MB/s faster than the Ryzen 9 3950X’s 53,401 MB/s. Much like with the memory reading, turning on PBO slowed down the R9 5950X just a bit to 53,944 MB/s.
CPU Queen
On AIDA’s CPU Queen test, we saw the Ryzen 9 5950X achieve a score of 159,151. The Ryzen 9 3950X was slower at 149,830 while turning on PBO boosted the R9 5950X up to 163,336.
SHA3
On AIDA’s SHA3 test, we watched the Ryzen 9 5950X rack up 6,112 points which was over 20% faster than the R9 3950X’s effort at 5,004 points. Turning on PBO blasted the R9 5950X 17.8% higher to reach 7,198 points.
Cinebench R20
Multicore
On Cinebench R20, the Ryzen 9 5950X turned in a score of 9,534 which exceeded the Ryzen R9 3950X’s 9,001 scores. PBO made a big difference, boosting the R9 5950X’s score up to 10,826, a 13.6% difference.
Singlecore
Losing all but one core, the Ryzen 9 5950X achieved a 608 point score, which is nearly 20% faster than the Ryzen 9 3950X score. Adding PBO to the mix boosted performance by about 1%, bringing it to a score of 615.
Blender
bmw27
The Ryzen 9 5950X tied with the R9 3950X in completing Blender’s bmw27 test in a minute and 37 seconds (or, 1.62 minutes). Turning on PBO made a difference, dropping the run time down to a minute and 27 seconds (or, 1.45 minutes).
classroom
On the Blender classroom test, the Ryzen 9 5950X differentiated itself from the Ryzen 9 3950X by completing the benchmark run 9 seconds faster. Turning on PBO shaved 26 seconds off the total run time for a 3 minute and 43-second run.
VRay 5
Finally, we take a look at VRay 5 where we see the Ryzen 9 5950X sporting a score of 19,215. The Ryzen 9 3950X was slower at 17,386 while turning on PBO rocketed the R9 5950X up to 21,581.
