Sony’s Hideaki Nishino has shared a post on the official PlayStation blog confirming the name of his company’s next-generation VR headset and the hardware’s key specifications.

As expected, Sony’s new headset for the PS5 console will simply be called the PlayStation VR2. Complementing it is the PlayStation VR2 Sense controller, whose advanced features (e.g., adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, and finger-touch detection) were teased last year.

“PlayStation VR2 takes VR gaming to a whole new level, enabling a greater sense of presence and allowing players to escape into game worlds like never before,” Nishino wrote. “With the headset on and controllers in hand, players will feel a heightened range of sensations unlike any other – thanks to the creativity of the game worlds being built by our world class developers, and the latest technology incorporated into the hardware.”
