1440p Gaming Performance
To start the bidding today, we will look at the 1440p performance of the EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti XC3 ULTRA GAMING video card in an assortment of games. All of the games are running at the highest quality selections available sans Ray Tracing and DLSS which we will look at separately. For each game, we are using the game benchmark included with the game and reporting the average frames per second.
Far Cry 6
In Far Cry 6, we have installed the HD Textures pack and are running at the Ultra presets configuration.
The EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti FTW3 ULTRA GAMING trailed the AMD Radeon RX 6800 by a full 7 FPS. Overclocking the EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti FTW3 ULTRA GAMING brought boosted speed by 2 FPS, but still not enough to take the performance crown. Overall, all cards in the lineup provide for a great experience playing Far Cry 6.
Cyberpunk 2077
In Cyberpunk 2077, we are using the Ultra quality presets without modifications. We are performing a manual run-through of a set driving route through the city and averaging our results over multiple runs.
The EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti XC3 ULTRA GAMING turned in a performance of 50.2 FPS which trailed the AMD Radeon RX 6800 by 4.8 FPS. Overclocking the EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti XC3 ULTRA GAMING boosted performance to 53.2 FPS.
Horizon Zero Dawn
In Horizon Zero Dawn the EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti XC3 ULTRA GAMING averaged 113 FPS, just a few frames behind the AMD Radeon RX 6800 at 117 FPS. Overclocking the EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti XC3 ULTRA GAMING increased performance by 1.8% leaving it 2 FPS short of the RX 6800. With all cards turning in scores over 100 FPS, they’re all great choices for Horizon Zero Dawn.
Red Dead Redemption 2
In Red Dead Redemption 2, the EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti XC3 ULTRA GAMING rang up 70.2 FPS compared to the 74 FPS of the AMD Radeon RX 6800. Overclocking the EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti XC3 ULTRA GAMING edged it over the top at 74.4 FPS.
Dirt 5
In Dirt 5, the EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti XC3 ULTRA GAMING chalked up a score of 110.1 FPS, which was 3.7 FPS behind the Radeon RX 6800 at 113.8 FPS. Overclocking the EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti XC3 ULTRA GAMING brought an additional 1.6 FPS to the table which was not enough to take the lead.
Metro Exodus
In Metro Exodus, the EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti XC3 ULTRA GAMING pulled 63.9FPS out of its hat, coming up 1 hat faster than the AMD Radeon RX 6800. Overclocking the EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti XC3 ULTRA GAMING produced 68 FPS leaving it on the top of the hat rack.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider
In Shadow of the Tomb Raider, because all of the cards performed so well, we went ahead and turned on Ray Tracing for testing at 1440p.
The EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti XC3 ULTRA GAMING jumped to the front of the line with 79 FPS. The AMD Radeon RX 6800 turned in 70 FPS. Overclocking the EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti XC3 ULTRA GAMING increased its lead over the others by a quartet of FPS.
