Valve has confirmed that its highly anticipated handheld gaming PC, the Steam Deck, will be launching on February 25.

The company announced the news in blog post today, which noted that the first batch of order emails would be sent out to reservation holders. Users who reserved a Steam Deck and still desire one have three days from the time they receive their order email to secure a unit; otherwise, their reservation will be released for the next person in the queue.

Valve also confirmed that the first Steam Deck units will begin shipping on February 28. Review units are also going out soon.

“In addition, we’re sending out press units for full review shortly,” Valve wrote. “Press review embargo on Steam Deck coverage will lift on February 25th, but keep an eye out for some preview coverage and impressions before that. In the meantime we’re working to tie up the last few loose ends and polish some rough edges, and are excited to get these out to you at the end of next month!”

Additional details pertaining to the Steam Deck launch, per Valve:

  • We will start sending invites shortly after 10:00 am on February 25th, PST
  • Order emails are sent in the same order that reservations were made.
  • You can only order the Steam Deck model that you originally reserved.
  • Your reservation deposit will be applied to the final price of Steam Deck, and shipping costs are included.

Reservations for the three Steam Deck models remain open, but current orders are not expected to ship until after Q2 2022. The priciest model costs $649 and features faster, 512 GB NVMe storage alongside other benefits such as anti-glare glass.
