1440p Gaming Performance
To start the bidding today, we will look at the 1440p performance of the EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 12GB FTW3 ULTRA GAMING video card in an assortment of games. All of the games are running at the highest quality selections available sans Ray Tracing and DLSS which we will look at separately. For each game, we are using the game benchmark included with the game and reporting the average frames per second.
Far Cry 6
In Far Cry 6, The EVGA RTX 3080 12GB FTW3 ULTRA GAMING lead from the bottom of the pack at 101 FPS. It was outmatched by all the other cards, with the EVGA RTX 3080 10GB FTW3 ULTRA at the top of the stack at 105FPS, the EVGA RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 ULTRA at 104FPS, and the ASUS TUF RX 6800 XT OC at 102 FPS. Overclocking the EVGA RTX 3080 12GB FTW3 ULTRA boosted its performance to 103 FPS.
Quite frankly, after rerunning these results a few times, it seems more like the game is CPU limited or has some other constraint on its performance as these are not exactly expected results. Flip on over to the 4k pages to see where the GPUs make a difference.
Cyberpunk 2077
In Cyberpunk 2077, we are using the Ultra quality presets without modifications. We are performing a manual run-through of a set driving route through the city and averaging our results over multiple runs. The EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 12GB FTW3 ULTRA GAMING turned in a performance of 68.1 FPS which led the ASUS TUF RX 6800 XT by 0.8 FPS and split the difference between the 10GB 3080 and 3080 Ti. Overclocking the EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 12GB FTW3 ULTRA GAMING boosted performance to 73.3 FPS.
Watch Dogs: Legion
In Watch Dogs: Legion we do have the HD Textures installed. We are running in “Ultra” quality with the Extreme Detail slider maxed out, as well as the Headlights quality option maxed out. In this way, we are running “maximum” game settings.
The EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 12GB FTW3 ULTRA GAMING prevailed over the entire pack at 93FPS, including the EVGA RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 at 91 FPS. Overclocking the EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 12GB FTW3 ULTRA GAMING added an extra 3 FPS onto its lead. Overall, all cards in the lineup provide for a great experience playing Watch Dogs: Legion.
Horizon Zero Dawn
In Horizon Zero Dawn the EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 12GB FTW3 ULTRA GAMING averaged 140 FPS which trailed behind the ASUS TUF RX 6800 XT and EVGA RTX 3080 Ti FTW 3 by 5 and 2 FPS, respectively. Overclocking the EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 12GB FTW3 ULTRA GAMING increased performance by 4.3% bringing it up to the front of the pack. With all cards turning in scores over 100 FPS, they’re all great choices for Horizon Zero Dawn.
Red Dead Redemption 2
In Red Dead Redemption 2, the EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 12GB FTW3 ULTRA GAMING rang up 90.6 FPS compared to the 87.1 FPS and 83.5 FPS of the EVGA RTX 3080 10GB FTW3 and the ASUS TUF 6800 XT, respectively. The EVGA RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 moved ahead by 4.7 FPS. Overclocking the EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 12GB FTW3 ULTRA GAMING pushed it to the top of the rankings at 98.3 FPS.
Metro Exodus
In Metro Exodus, the EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 12GB FTW3 ULTRA GAMING pulled 81.1 FPS out of its hat, coming up short of the EVGA RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 ULTRA hats, but ahead of both the EVGA RTX 3080 10GB FTW3 and the ASUS TUF 6800 XT. Overclocking the EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 12GB FTW3 ULTRA GAMING produced 85 FPS leaving it second to the 3080 Ti flavor.
Dirt 5
In Dirt 5, the EVGA RTX 3080 12GB FTW3 ULTRA achieved 139.3 FPS, ahead of the RTX 3080 10GB FTW3 and ASUS TUF RX 6800 XT, but it was bested by the EVGA RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 ULTRA. Overclocking the EVGA RTX 3080 12GB FTW3 ULTRA boosted it up to 152.9 FPS and to the top ranking on the chart.
Ghost Recon: Breakpoint
In Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, the EVGA RTX 3080 12GB FTW3 ULTRA scored 137 FPS, only beating the EVGA RTX 3080 10GB FTW3 ULTRA. Overclocking the EVGA RTX 3080 12GB FTW3 ULTRA brought it up to 144 FPS, which was sufficient for it to pass all of the other contenders.
