Power and Temp
Power
All wattage was taken from GPUz logs indicating Board Power Draw (W).
The EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 12GB FTW3 ULTRA GAMING weighed in at 408W which is 14W over the EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 ’s power draw of 394W and EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 10GB FTW3’s of 361W. Overclocking the EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 12GB FTW3 ULTRA GAMING added 38W to its total draw.
Temperature
The ambient room temperature at the time of testing was 22 degrees Celsius.
From what we can tell, the EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 12GB FTW3 ULTRA GAMING’s default fan curve is set to maintain 72-ish degrees Celsius as it leveled off at 72.3 degrees Celsius. It maintained that with the fans running but not audible without an issue. That was warmer than the ASUS TUF RX 6800 XT that leveled out at 69 degrees Celsius but cooler than the EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FTW3’s efforts at 78.3 degrees Celsius. With the EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 12GB FTW3 ULTRA GAMING maxed out on both core clock and fans, it dropped to 60.3 degrees Celsius.
For comparison, the GeForce RTX 3080 10GB Founders Edition ran at 81c. Therefore, the cooling on the EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 12GB FTW3 ULTRA GAMING significantly improves upon the Founder’s Edition temperature by a large margin.
