Gaming Performance

Now we come to the interesting testing we are sure you all can’t wait for, we were also anxious to get to this part and see how it all ends up for gaming performance. In order to test this properly, really get a good feel for it, and cover all the bases for the big picture, we decided to test 1080p, 1440p, and 4K resolutions when possible. For testing, we are using an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Founders Edition video card.

Cyberpunk 2077

In Cyberpunk 2077 we are running at “Ultra” settings at 1080p, 1440p, and 4K on a dedicated GeForce RTX 3080 Ti. We definitely see a performance difference across the CPUs at 1080p. The Ryzen 5 5600X is the fastest at 109FPS, with the 5600G trailing it at 102FPS and finally the 3600X at 97FPS. This shows that the 5600G is 5% faster than the 3600X, and the 5600X is 7% faster on top of that. Once we get to 1440p and 4K though the game is GPU dependent, and it doesn’t really matter what CPU you chose. At 1080p though, the 5600G is a clear improvement over the 3600X, but the 5600X is ultimately better for gaming.

Battlefield 2042

Battlefield 2042 is also sensitive to CPU performance, even at 1440p to some degree. Firstly, at 1080p we see the same pattern again where the 5600G is an upgrade over the 3600X for performance, but the 5600X dominates the performance. There’s actually a large difference here of 22% between the 5600X and 3600X at 1080p, which is pretty huge. The 5600G is 10% faster than the 3600X and within 10% of the 5600X. Even at 1440p the 5600X is 8% faster than the 3600X. The 5600G is just slightly faster than the 3600X and within 6% of the 5600X.

Forza Horizon 5

In Forza Horizon 5 at 1080p we find the AMD Ryzen 5 5600G to be slightly faster than the 3600x, but its the 5600X that is much faster. Even at 1440p, we see the same type of scaling, with the 5600G just a smidge faster than the 3600x, but the 5600X faster still.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020

There are some pretty big differences for Flight Sim. As we found out in a previous review, this game seems to love that cache and newer architecture. At 1080p the 5600X is 19% faster than the 3600X, this is pretty big, and that continues at 1440p as well. The Ryzen 5 5600G is also much faster than the 3600X, 13% at 1080p, and 14% at 1440p. The 3600X seems to suffer in this game, and it does much better on Zen 3. The 5600G is very close to 5600X performance in this game.
